PUBLIC PRIVACY
Autumn/Winter 2014 Collection

Public Privacy illustrates the similarity between fashion and architecture involving the concept of spatial aesthetic between interior and exterior environments. In my garments I show space through layering and structuring, which not only adheres to the concept of space but also incorporates the three-dimensional elements of architecture; volume, texture, line and form.
The window display portrays the spatial aesthetic by producing depth and a three-dimensional impression. The hand-made sculpture has the effect of an outer environment developing into an interior void, which produces the essence of an exterior and interior space. The cut-outs are enforced to make the sculpture look as if it is getting smaller, which enhances the layering techniques used in the garments. My design development focuses on showing a double layering technique to represent layering and structure. This technique has been incorporated in the display by the cut-out boards; by placing the cut-outs in a layered formation a person experiences the inner and outer space of the environment.
Public Privacy's garments feature three-dimensional techniques that produce layers and structures to represent the similarity between fashion and architecture in relation to the concept of spatial aesthetics in an environment.
