I endeavor to design and make garments that aesthetically please my customers and myself. Internships with New York Designer Thomasine Dolan, Karen Walker, New Zealand fabric manufacturer Charles Parsons and New Zealand fashion stylist Kiri Donaldson has given me extensive knowledge and experience needed in the fashion industry. I hope you enjoy my work as much as I enjoy creating them -ND

Covered Buttons
I thought I might upload this video, it was from my NY internship; I went to purchase covered buttons for the first division collection. Those of you who make covered buttons by hand will find this industrial machine fascinating. Enjoy!

When food meets fashion
Below are images of garments made out of vegetables and fruits. Starting off as a 2D project, it evolved into a wearable art garment for the Food & Art Culinary Competition.

Love
and Beauty portrays women from Classical Antiquity mainly
looking at Venus the Goddess who is known for her love and beauty. I have taken
Venus’ aspects such as her purity and humbleness, and related them to
contemporary women of today. These aspects are viewed through the choice of
fabrics, colour palette, and the simplicity of the silhouettes and drapery
designs.
In addition to my research into
Classical Antiquity I have created draped garments with cowls and lantern
forms. These designs show the influence of clothing from the Goddess of the
myth to a contemporary aesthetic to be worn by women today. My intent is to
convey this aesthetic to the viewer through my garments.
The colour palette gives an insight to
the viewers of Venus’ beauty. Subtle colours have been selected to imply
softness and humbleness that was known to be the beauty of the Goddess but I
also decided to use seductive hues of champagne, ivory and the midnight blue,
which reveals her alluring side.
The collection expresses the notion of
the divine and also represents contemporary women of today with inspiration
from a mythological Goddess.
